Jacques Verheijen (1944)
In my early years music was my life. I studied playing the piano, the cello, the organ and composition. I was always occupied with playing orchestral or chamber music, accompanying, directing and composing.
Then I worked as a psychologist in educational circles for many years. Music only played a marginal role during this part of my life. At the age of 46 I decided to return to the love of my youth, and I started a musical career. I studied piano with Herman Uhlhorn. Nowadays I am working as a composer/arranger and performing musician.
Working with Mariejan on the subject of Yiddish music enables me to combine these different activities.
