Reviews Benkshaft
Amersfoortse Courant (1-3-1999) at the premiere of the Benkshaft-concertprogram:
(...) "This couple
really distinguishes itself in its surprising choice of repertoire (...) The
title song, Benkshaft, has never before been recorded. In his announcement Verheijen
compares the rendition of Mariejan van Oort with a 78-turn record. This is a
compliment, and what he says gets there! For this song is impressive, like a
classical, cracking recording of Caruso still impresses more than Pavarotti
in hifi (...) Noteworthy and imposing too is the poem "'s Tut vey!",
written by Mordekhay Gebirtig during World War II in Cracow, and composed by
Verheijen. It makes us look forwardto the CD-recording, which no doubt will
appear in the future."
